Waiting for the wind

Materials: Beloretsky quartzite, jet

Height: 135 mm

Length: 260 mm

An angel with his head raised questioningly is waiting for the wind that will push his boat along the flow of time. Maybe it’s a kind of pause or a calm before something important. In this sculpture, every viewer  is free to fantasize, guess the meaning. Art can touch those strings that you didn’t even know existed.
The melancholic image of the messenger carved from Beloretsky quartz gives a lyrical mood to the composition and at the same time emphasizes its symbolic, disembodied nature in contrast with the conventional boat made of jet.
