The “Portrait” Casket.

Materials: jade, jasper.

Diameter: 110 mm.

The nephrite jewelry box is like a breath of antiquity: its image seems to refer to the time when the art of cameo was born. The delicate profile of a girl carved in jasper, the light draped tunic, and the floral composition in her hair embody the image of a Greek woman from the ancient islands of the Aegean Sea in stone.

The natural multiplicity of jasper, combined with the masterly craftsmanship of the stone-cutter, creates a fine gradient from the soft light, almost white, tones to the saturated reddish-brown, thus revealing the beauty and depth of the material. And the very combination of warm rich contrasting shades of jasper and emerald nephrite give the casket a light flair of antique aesthetics.
