Cain and Abel

Material: sapphirine

Height: 170 mm

Cain and Abel” is an artistic embodiment of a simple, but at the same time, deep story based on a well-known biblical plot. The author rejected an idea of the traditional classical image of the composition and tried to capture the main idea in the work: crimes out of a sense of envy.

Two male faces, two brothers – Cain and Abel are opposed to each other, but at the same time, they are one. The sculpture is filled with the drama of the moment, which is conveyed through the stunned and confused expression of Cain and the face of Abel distorted in the agony of death.

The sculpture is in the permanent exhibition of the State Hermitage.
