Cicada

Materials: chrysoprase, californite

Length: 110 mm

The cicada image is a metaphor of the transience of all living things. Stone-carving composition is about the moment of the hot summer day which will soon end but pleasant memories will remain in stone.
First of all, the sculpture is interesting because the suitable material and the composition included in it.
Californite with pronounced natural inclusions was ideally suited for the plant idea in the form of green grass and strange flowers. And the semitransparent chrysoprase with its natural spotted pattern conveys the texture and image of the insect.
