White night
Material: Beloretsky quartzite
Height: 130 mm
Length: 215 mm
In this stone-carving sculpture, the author tried to capture the fleetness of the moment, the transitional state – from calm to suddenly raging energy. The compositional and figurative solution was determined by the material, Belorechensk quartzite, rich in its unique shades. Its faceted texture creates a play of light and shadow, like the sky before a thunderstorm. The image of a bull – a stubborn and indomitable animal with an explosive temperament, is comparable to the changeable weather of the white night: in the breaks of thunderclouds, the lights of distant lightning flash, coloring the horizon with scarlet.
