Abel

Material: nephrite

Height: 250 mm

Length: 365 mm

The author’s stone-carving sculpture “Abel” is based on a well-known biblical story. The block of black nephrite suggested a theme with a deep meaning — human relationships based on blood kinship. The shape of the stone is similar to the distorted, tragic face of Abel, the second son of Adam and Eve, who was killed by his brother Cain. The cleavage in the stone has a symbolic meaning — the split and enmity between the brothers.
